It is reported that Shanghai International Port reported a 10.5%YoY increase in container throughput to 15.32 million cases in the first half of 2011.
Cargo throughput reached 236.13 million tons during the same period up by 11.66%YoY. Container throughput in June hit 2.62 million cases with cargo throughput of 40.96 million tonnes in the same month.
According to China Communications and Transportation Association consultant Mr Dong Wenjun, Shanghai International Port completed half of its 2011 shipping target of 30 million container cases in the first six months.
China large scale ports posted a 12.9%YoY increase in container throughput to 77.7 million cases in the H1 of 2011, with cargo throughput of 4.42 billion tons in the same period up by 13.2%YoY. That puts Shanghai International Port growth rate of container and cargo throughput in the first half just below the national average growth rate.
