Shandong Province sees 200 million tonnes coal shortage

Wednesday, 24 Aug 2011

It is reported that the fast paced economic development has further stoked tensions between coal output and hefty demand growth in Shandong Province. Coal consumption this year in Shandong is expected to exceed 330 million tonnes leaving a gap of 200 million tonnes.

In the first half year, Shandong coal market runs amid stabilization. Though the demand could not be fed by local resources, the coal transported inward by railway and ship and power diversion help ease Shandong’s supply limitation. A basic balance of Shandong coal market could be ensured thanks to the coal outside the province, but seasonal and periodical shortage still exists. Price may be mixed in H2 yet the whole coal market is to steady.
