European coal prices finally fell ending a four day advance

It is reported that coal for delivery to Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Antwerp with settlement next year fell 0.5% to USD 127 a metric tonne by 12:21 PM in London. Before August 16th 2011, prices climbed by 2% since August 9.

European utilities began to stockpile thermal coal last week for winter, helping to make the Atlantic coal market more balanced, Ms Judy Zhu an analyst at Standard Chartered Plc said that “There will be a decisive increase in demand next month.”
