According to the globalCOAL NEWC Index, Power station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, declined by 0.4% in the week ended August 15th 2011. Coal prices at the New South Wales port fell to AUD 119.74 a metric ton from AUD 120.26 the previous week.
