Macroeconomic indicators- Gujarat GSDP rises by 16 pct

Riding on an impressive industrial growth, Gujarat's Gross State Domestic Product and per capita income grew by around 16% in 2009-10, while food grain and oil seed production dipped by 11.66% and 23.45% respectively.

The GSDP grew to INR 4,29,356 crore (current prices) in 2009-10, as compared to INR 3,67,745 crore in 2008-09, a rise of 16.80%, the state's socio-economic review (2010-11).

It said that while, the state's per capita income rose by 16% at INR 63,961 in 2009-10, as against INR 55,140 a year ago, a rise of 16%.

The report said that the per capita income in Gujarat is higher than India's per capita of INR 46,492 in 2009-10.

As per the report, the production of total food grains during the year 2009-10 is estimated at 5.605 million tonnes as compared to 6.345 million tonnes in the previous year, a decrease of 11.66%.

While, the total oilseed production during year 2009-10 is being estimated at 3.010 million tonnes as compared to 3.932 million tonnes in previous year a dip of 23.45%.
