Inner Mongolia Qinghua Group plans to earmark 78.7 billion yuan to build a refined coal chemical industrial zone in Yining county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Wenhui newspaper reported.
Qinghua Group will prioritize the projects of 10 million tonnes coal-to-methane and 5.5 billion cubic meters coal-to-natural gas in the industrial zone, which covers an area of 22.37 square kilometers, according to the report.
Earlier in May 2009, with a total investment of 23 billion yuan, Qinghua Group started constructing the first coal-to-natural gas industrial zone in Xinjiang.
The project, which is scheduled to complete construction in 2012, would have annual output of 5.5 billion cubic meters coal-to-natural gas, 700,000 tonnes coal tar hydrogenation, synthetic ammonia as well as 2 million tonnes coal ash-to-cement.
