Reuters reported that Power consumption in areas served by State Grid Corp of China may have increased by an average of 9.4% in January from a year earlier up from a nationwide 5.4% rise in December.
Electricity consumption in areas covered by the Northwest Grid, one of SGCC's five regional units rose 14.01%YoY to 30.9 billion kilowatt hours last month.
The report said citing data from the Northwest Grid that the increase was the fastest among the five region and 4.64 percentage points higher than the average for SGCC as a whole.
Power use comparisons in January and February are often distorted by the Lunar New Year holiday which can fall in January or February. In 2010 and 2011 the holiday took place in February.
