Breakdown at Enakievo disrupted steel production for a week

Monday,Feb14,2011

It is reported that the breakdown happened in the converter workshop of Enakievo Steelworks at the beginning of the week. It brought to a complete standstill the steelmaking facilities and reduced to the minimum the operations of the blast furnaces.

The plant is to resume normal operations in 3-4 days, according to the Association of Ukrainian Steelmakers.

According to Millennium Capital analyst “The news is NEGATIVE for Enakievo steelworks. The week long breakup in production is to reduce the plant’s February steel output by at least 25%. The scope of the breakup can be more serious, as the issue is not publicly commented, and it may take longer for the company to resume normal operations.”
