Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China’s top coal production base, has intention to cooperate with South China Power Grid on supplying coal up to 10 billion tonnes to southern China’s Guangdong province, North Weekends reported, citing relevant insiders.
Half of the supply would be high quality thermal coal with energy value of 6000 Kcal/kg, which will be transported by road or vessels via Qinhuangdao Port, the report cited one insider with Inner Mongolia power sector as said.
The rest half, mainly low quality coal, will be firstly converted into electricity and then transmitted via ultra-high voltage line of ±800 kV.
The transmission line, planned to build in collaboration with South China Power Grid, would have to seek approval from the State Council, said officials with the grid operator.
