Port sources told Montel that coal stockpiles at the port of Amsterdam are beginning to show a marginal decline, as onward transport logistics to Germany improve.
Key Amsterdam port service provider OBA has around 1.5million tonnes of coal on stock, compared with 1.6 million tonnes recorded earlier this week. But stock levels at Rotterdam’s largest dry bulk handler Emo remain unchanged at around 2.9million, while European Bulk Service stockpiles have risen by 50,000 tonne since last week.
Water levels on sections of the Rhine a key inland transport route for coal are still more than 50% below average. But there is still spare rail capacity, DB Schenker, the freight logistics subsidiary of German national rail company. (sourced from Montel)
