Hebei coke prices stabilize despite high steel price

May 12, 2011 |en.sxcoal.com

The price of coke in North China’s Hebei province was stable recently, though steel price has risen 100 yuan/t or so on tightening control over steel mills.

Presently, the delivered price of Grade coke was 1950-1980 yuan/t in Tangshan and 1850-1880 yuan/t in Handan.

The Hebei provincial government is tightening control over energy-guzzling enterprises, and blast furnaces without complete licenses in Wuan were being rectified, local sources said, adding it is the main cause for steel price rise.

The province’s steel mills still took a cautious attitude to coke purchases and resisted the request of coke plants to hike price.
