Rajasthan inks MoU for setting up 1200MW thermal plant

Rajasthan government has signed an MoU with Gujarat based power company Siddhi EnerTech Limited for setting up a 1,200 MW coal based super critical thermal power plant in Banswara.

The project, to be set up under the policy for promoting private investments in the power sector, will be one of the three super critical power projects to be set up in the district at a likely investment of around INR 8,000 crore.

Rajasthan energy minister Jitendra Singh said that "It is a major initiative set to develop the tribal dominated region in southern Rajasthan and create employment opportunities for the local youths.”

As per the policy, the company will get 100% exemption on the stamp duty on paper execution and power purchase guarantee of at least 50% of the power generated in a year among other benefits which include infrastructure support and land acquisition facilitation.(sourced MoneyControl)
