India Coal Market Watch citing the Central Electricity Authority said that Indian power utilities increased coal imports in October by 26% from a year earlier to 3.27 million metric tones.
It said that the total coal received by power plants, both domestic and imports, fell by 7% last month to 29.9 million tones from a year earlier as local supplies declined.
