Siemens VAI to supply rod rolling mill for China

Austria-based Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from Georgia, US-based Southwire Company to supply an aluminum rod rolling mill for Yixing, China-based Beauty Sun Holdings Ltd. The new mill is expected to be commissioned during the first quarter of 2012.

The new rolling mill will produce rods that are 9.5 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm in diameter for the power conductor market. The scope of the order includes 11 stands, which will produce 15 mt per hour.

L.B. Foster to supply SDI rail for Iowa Interstate Railroad

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania-based steel and rail products manufacturer L.B. Foster will supply 1,553 net tons of new rail manufactured and welded by Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) to the Iowa Interstate Railroad.

L.B. Foster will supply the standard continuous welded rail (CWR) for new track installation in May 2011 through its company-owned weld train. "Maintaining our own weld trains helps to expedite CWR shipments from our supplier plants and provides better coordination of delivery to staging areas nationwide," said Jay Roach, L.B. Foster Sales Manager.
