Indonesia Stocks Movers: Adaro Energy, Garuda, Indosat, Timah

Oct. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Jakarta.

The Jakarta Composite index fell 1.0 percent to 3,790.85, slid for the first day .

Coal producers: PT Bumi Resources (BUMI IJ), Indonesia’s biggest coal producer, dropped 4.1 percent to 2,350 rupiah. PT Adaro Energy (ADRO IJ), second-largest coal mining company, fell 4.7 percent to 2,025 rupiah.

Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, dropped 0.2 percent in the week ended Oct. 28. Coal prices at the New South Wales port declined to $117.89 a metric ton from $118.10 the previous week, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.

Nickel producers: PT International Nickel Indonesia (INCO IJ), the nation’s largest producer of the metal, dropped 2 percent to 3,650 rupiah. PT Aneka Tambang (ANTM IJ), the second- biggest, fell 2.2 percent to 1,790 rupiah.

Nickel for three-month delivery dropped 1 percent to $19,700 a metric ton on the London Metal Exchange on Oct. 28 and last traded at $19,400.

PT Buana Listya Tama (BULL IJ), an Indonesian provider of freight transportation services, advanced 4.6 percent to 114 rupiah after the company reported nine-month net income jumped to 250.64 billion rupiah from a year earlier.

PT Garuda Indonesia (GIAA IJ), Indonesia’s biggest carrier, climbed gained 2.3 percent to 445 rupiah as crude oil futures fell for a second day in New York, reducing fuel-cost pressure on the Indonesian airline.

PT Indosat (ISAT IJ), an Indonesian telephone company, rose 1.9 percent to 5,350 rupiah after the company reported nine- month net income rose to 992 billion rupiah ($112 million), from 530.9 billion rupiah a year earlier.

PT Timah (TINS IJ), Indonesia’s largest tin mining company, dropped 1.7 percent to 1,990 rupiah. Fifteen tin producers in Indonesia, the world’s largest shipper, agreed to extend a self- imposed ban on exports until the end of the year to help boost prices. They will seek to widen support for the halt at a meeting this week.

ADARO TO ALLOT US$100 MIO FOR COKING COAL - INSIDER STORIES

One of Indonesia's largest coal miner PT Adaro Energy Tbk (ADRO) plans to spend US$100 million in coking coal project dubbed IndoMet Coal, a joint venture company with BHP Billiton.

Adaro, via a subsidiary namely PT Alam Tri Abadi, owns 25% shareholding in IndoMet Coal and BHP controls the remaining stake in the coking coal miner with concessions in South and East Kalimantan, as quoted by Insider Stories.

Insider Stories furhter said, Adaro owns 25% shareholdings in seven units of BHP such as PT Maruwai Coal, PT Juloi Coal, PT Kalteng Coal, PT Sumber Barito Coal, PT Lahai Coal, PT Ratah Coal, and PT Pari Coal.

“At end of first quarter last year, we acquired 25% stake from BHP worth US$334.73 million. We will spend US$100 million in 2011,” said Adaro Corporate Secretary Devindra Ratzarwin as quoted by Investor Daily today.

He said the investment in IndoMet Coal is beyond the total capital expenditure set by Adaro.

Adaro plans to spend US$608 million-US$628 million capex this year. For routine expenses, the company will spend US$175 million and US$250 million to purchase heavy equipments, said Insider Stories.

Adaro Energy, Bakrie & Brothers, Bumi: Indonesia Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are as of the previous close.

The Jakarta Composite index (JCI) gained 1.4 percent to 3,542.90.

Coal producers: Power-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, an Asian benchmark, fell 1.7 percent to $129.48 a metric ton in the week ended March 4, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.

PT Bumi Resources (BUMI IJ), Asia’s largest exporter of power-station coal, dropped 1.6 percent to 3,025 rupiah and PT Adaro Energy (ADRO IJ), Indonesia’s second-biggest coal mining company, gained 2.2 percent to 2,375 rupiah.

Energy companies: Crude oil for April delivery rose to a 29-month high in New York on March 4, advancing 2.5 percent to $104.42 a barrel. The contract was at $105.14 a barrel in after- hours trading as of 8:05 a.m. Jakarta time.

PT Medco Energi Internasional (MEDC IJ), Indonesia’s biggest listed oil company, fell 0.9 percent to 2,875 rupiah and PT Energi Mega Persada (ENRG IJ), the second largest, slipped 0.9 percent to 111 rupiah.

PT Bakrie & Brothers (BNBR IJ): The Indonesian investment company will get $601.75 million of loans from the Singapore unit of Credit Suisse Group AG, Bisnis Indonesia reported, citing Corporate Secretary R.A. Sri Dharmayanti. The loans will be used to repay debt, the report said. Bakrie & Brothers retreated 2.9 percent to 67 rupiah. (bloomberg)
